About Birth Conversations with Saaraa

Birth Conversations with Saaraa offers virtual 1:1 midwife-led antenatal sessions, birth preparation, and postnatal support for women and families who would value a calmer, more unhurried opportunity to talk things through, ask questions, and better understand their options within maternity care.

These sessions provide a supportive, respectful setting for thoughtful, evidence-based conversations around pregnancy, birth preferences, postnatal recovery, and infant feeding and breastfeeding support. The focus is on helping you feel informed and reassured as you prepare for birth and early parenthood.

Each session is flexible and led by you. Rather than following a fixed programme, we focus on the questions and topics that feel most relevant for you at that point in your journey, with clear explanations grounded in evidence.

Sessions are available online across the UK and locally in Leicester.

No question is too small. Whether you are seeking clarity, reassurance, or a chance to think aloud, you are welcome to bring whatever feels important to you.

Birth Conversations with Saaraa is an ancillary health education and information service. It is designed to sit alongside your usual NHS or private maternity care, not replace it.

No medical advice, clinical assessments, diagnosis, or treatment are provided. Any decisions about your care should always be discussed with your own midwife, obstetrician, GP, or healthcare team.

Why These Conversations Matter?

National evidence shows that maternity outcomes and experiences are not equal for everyone.

2x

Black women are almost three times more likely, and Asian women around twice as likely, to die during pregnancy or after birth compared with White women (MBRRACE-UK, 2024). National reviews continue to highlight disparities in outcomes and experiences for women from ethnic minority backgrounds (MBRRACE-UK, 2023).

3x

Alongside this national evidence, many women describe not always having sufficient opportunity within routine appointments to fully explore their questions, preferences, and plans, particularly in relation to birth choices and early postnatal recovery.

The postnatal period is also an area where many women report needing greater support. The National Maternity Survey found that around 6 in 10 women felt they never saw or spoke to a midwife as much as they wanted after birth (CQC, 2023). National guidance recognises that postnatal care has historically received less focus and requires continued improvement (NHS England, 2022).

Birth Conversations was created to offer a dedicated setting for thoughtful discussion, clearer understanding, and more confident antenatal and parenthood preparation.

About Me

I am a registered midwife and a mother of four, with experience across a wide range of maternity settings.

My background includes:

• Community midwifery within diverse populations, including predominantly BAME (Black and minority ethnic) communities
• International experience as a Lead Midwife in a hospital setting
• Supporting families as part of a dedicated homebirth team
• Working as a Specialist Infant Feeding Midwife, supporting breastfeeding and early feeding
• Currently working in further education within midwifery and nursing-related training

This experience shapes the way I offer antenatal education, birth preparation, postnatal support and infant feeding guidance, with a focus on clear, respectful, evidence-based conversations.

My work within diverse communities has strengthened my commitment to supporting women who may feel unheard, uncertain, or overlooked within maternity systems. Birth Conversations is open to all women and families who value clear, respectful, evidence-based support.

I believe every woman deserves to feel listened to, respected, and confident in her understanding of care options. My role is to provide a safe, professional space where you can ask questions freely, explore information thoughtfully, and feel supported in preparing for your own conversations with your maternity team.

If you are looking for personalised antenatal education, birth preparation, or postnatal support in a calm and supportive environment, you are warmly welcome to book a session.
